Reasons to Support
Reasons to Support BYU Athletics as a Member of the Cougar Club
To Maintain a Strong Athletic Program
- With costs increasing more rapidly than ticket revenue, additional support is necessary to maintain a full athletic agenda.
- A strong athletic program provides opportunities for talented young people to develop their full potential.
- BYU’s athletic success is dependent on its ability to recruit outstanding student athletes. Cougar Club provides the essential resources to bring recruits to campus for recruiting visits and to send coaches on the road for recruiting trips.
- Club funds strengthen the women’s athletic program, helping it to achieve parity with other well established programs.
- Club funds help to provide the best physical resources possible.
- A successful athletic program has an economic impact on the community. One study estimates that a typical football season generates spending of $ 9,706,908 in the Provo-Orem area.
- A winning athletic program brings positive state and national recognition to Provo and enhances its business climate and its population growth.
To Increase Vital Booster Support
- Club funds encourage students to excel both on the field and in the classroom. Besides recognizing exceptional athletic performance, Cougar Club also honors scholar athletes through its Academic Athlete program.
- Cougar Club inducts former athletic stars into its BYU Athletic Hall of Fame, an enduring memorial to the university’s athletic tradition.
- The Cougar Club provides television coverage of those football and basketball games not broadcast commercially. To continue-and to expand coverage in the future-will require additional funds.
- More people attend BYU football and basketball games than any other events in the state. Their popularity is directly related to overall team success, and Cougar Club’s financial support is a vital contributor to that success.
